What 12 AI Search Pre-Checks Showed
I ran 12 small AI-search pre-checks while building Answerproof.
These were intentionally narrow: one buyer question, one target domain, a few competitor domains, and a live AI answer/citation check. Not a full diagnostic. Just enough signal to decide whether a deeper audit is worth discussing.
The pattern was useful immediately.
Some companies were absent while adjacent competitors or sources appeared:
- A capital advisory query did not mention 30A Capital, while adjacent capital advisory sources appeared.
- An analytics consulting query did not mention DF Insights, while Mammoth Growth appeared.
- A CMMC compliance query did not mention Hatty AI, while TrustNovaOps appeared and was cited.
Some companies did appear, which changes the sales question. The question is no longer “are we invisible?” It becomes:
Do we keep showing up across long-tail buyer questions?
Which incumbents appear beside us?
Which source pages cause the answer?
What would make the answer more defensible next month?
That is why I am positioning Answerproof as an audit-first diagnostic, not another monitoring dashboard.
The first deliverable should not be a graph. It should be a source-backed answer to this question:
